Not a trade paperback, but an actual single issue - what's the worst thing you've ever read and why?

Crossed #1.
The two pages of "Oh. We shouldn't have done that." that stayed in my head for three days afterwards. And i don't upset easily. Thanks, Jacen Burrows.

Green Arrow #7 in the new 52 was just terrible. I could not finish it. I blame the art, but the story wasn't exactly pulling me in either. I didn't finish issue 2 (I believe it was 2) of AVX when Cap punches Wolverine for no fucking reason. Steve Rogers would never do that. I'm sure it's a Skrull thing, but for now it's just bad writing.

Crossed is pretty bad. We need to talk about that some time soon... I could go with the obvious Hawk & Dove #1, but that's got its own level of Hell. Anything with art by Simone Bianchi burns my eyes, but Astonishing X-Men Xenogenesis #1 takes the cake. It's the only comic I've ever ripped up. Bad writing by Ellis, and borderline pornographic art by Kaare Andrews.

It's amazing how quickly Astonishing tanked after Whedon left and Ellis got on board.
And Xenogenesis made me realize that Kaare Andrews, while he used to be an artist i respected, is utterly godawful.
Worst artwork, storytelling, hell, anything i've ever seen all happened after 25. I never, ever wanna go back to the Astonishing name or trust when someone tells me 'it might be better than it was.'

I'm with you. If I wanted this type of comic, I'd go to the roped off, dark part of the comic shop that requires ID. At least that way I won't be disappointed by the story.
